Brown squirrels

Today, I talked about squirrels with the kids. We talked about their colours, their teeth and their tails, and how and why they collect nuts in Fall. I had my usual kids and some older kids today, so we had quite a discussion! They do know a lot!

After that, I asked them to stand like a squirrel, because we're going to learn a song about squirrels. They love the song~ I personally love it too haha, 'cause it's so cute!

Brown Squirrel

Brown squirrel, brown squirrel,
Swish your bushy tail!
Brown squirrel, brown squirrel,
Swish your bushy tail!

Wrinkle up your funny nose,
Hold a nut between your toes!

Brown squirrel, brown squirrel,
Swish your bushy tail!

I showed them the sample of my squirrel art, and then told them what to do, step by step. I didn't realize that the page looks like Canada's flag until Iris pointed that out to me! I showed them how to rip the papers into small pieces, and explained to them how to glue the pieces onto the inside of the squirrel, to fill all the white parts. Most of them did a pretty good job! And I'm very proud of Edward, because this is the first completed work that I got from him! =) I think this exercise is easier for him compared to the previous ones that we did, because we're not using scissors. At the beginning, he had trouble ripping the papers too, but he got it after I showed him a couple of times!
