7 Little Ducks Went Out One Day

This week's theme is farm animals, and we learned about ducks today~ I read them a story called "Little Quack", and it's about mother duck's 5 little ducklings, who need to learn to swim. Little Quack was the last one in the nest, who was too scared to try. When I saw the expressions on the children's faces, I was so touched. They looked so worried and sad, because Little Quack was lonely and scared. But in the end, he jumped into the water and all 5 little ducklings paddled happily with mother duck~

This is the song that we sang today. Before we went to the tables to make our craft, I asked the kids to make a choo choo train behind me, and we sang the song together. And one by one, I sent them to wait for us at the table~

7 Little Ducks Went Out One Day

7 little ducks went out one day,
Over the hills and far away.
Mother duck said quack quack quack quack,
But only 6 little ducks came back.

6 little ducks went out one day,
Over the hills and far away.
Mother duck said quack quack quack quack,
But only 5 little ducks came back.

5 little ducks went out one day,
Over the hills and far away.
Mother duck said quack quack quack quack,
But only 4 little ducks came back.

(and so on...until no little ducks came back)

Mother duck went out one day,
Over the hills and far away.
Mother duck said quack quack quack quack,
And all 7 little ducks came back!

This little duck is made of simple shapes, so I think that the children would be able to cut them on their own. I'm very proud of how far they've come! Look at the ducklings' heads...the children cut the circles soooo nicely! Reya and Daniel didn't even want to try using the scissors a month ago, but now they're doing such a great job. I feel so happy for them~~
